CAIRN TRAVELER VLOG | EP 32

I’ve used (essentially) the same shoes for the last 3.5 years, rotating the new ones into the work cycle and the old ones to hiking. These shoes are absolutely AMAZING!! Check out this short review for the Altra Lone Peaks!!

Be creative and find your adventure this week!! ✌️😎

Sometimes called the “clown shoe,” Altra Lone Peaks are know for their increased width and large toe box. For hiking and particularly for backpacking, order a size large than you would typically wear due to foot swelling. Out of many shoes I’ve tried, including some great La Sportiva and Salomon trail runners and hiking boots, these are the ONLY shoes I have successfully long distance-hiked in without ANY blisters. I also typically combine these with Lock Laces for ease of use. I’m on my fifth pair since early 2018 and typically I use the newest pair at work (this allows for some easy break-in) and rotate the older (already well broken in) pair to hiking. Lone Peaks are light weight and dry very quickly, making them a great option for a river shoe or for hiking in wet conditions - I have used a Gortex hiking boot before in a rain storm and they essentially become water-logged buckets for your feet - I’d rather just get wet and then allow the shoes and feet to dry quickly.
