Exploring the Bisti Badlands with Hiker || VLOG

LOCATION

Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area while on contract in Fort Defiance Arizona (staying in Gallup, NM)

CAIRN TRAVELER VLOG | EP 38

Join me and Hiker for a quick hike in one of the top but slightly out of the way tourist destinations of New Mexico - The Bisti (De-Na-Zin) Badlands!! A walk on the surface of the moon.

Be creative and find your adventure this week!! ✌️😎

This is truly an astounding place to visit and well worth the drive. When we visited, there were no other people to be seen until we returned to the trailhead. Speaking of trails, there are no clear trail markers here and this is more of just a walk out into no man’s land - if you want to follow a specific trail, I would recommend the All Trails app and closely following your progress on GPS. There are rolling hills of hoodoos with a spreading honeycomb of openings beneath them, and as you make it towards the end of the area there is quite a bit of petrified wood formations. Given that this is a BLM site, dogs are permitted on leash.

More photography from this and other trips is available both on Instagram and here on the CAIRN Traveler Gallery Page (both color and in the Western Shadows Galley in black and white).
